Gourmet
Eat, cook, enjoy. This popular group has been enjoyed by many members since the 1980s. Gourmet is organized around how food is prepared and its enjoyment. Various cuisines are prepared by members on a rotating basis usually in small groups for the Group. Members commit to cook once a year. During the year, Gourmet plans field trips to a variety of restaurants or culinary venues such as the French Culinary Institute in NYC and the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park NY. Other activities have included a visit to a farm followed by lunch, a potluck party or a guest chef at the Clubhouse.
Gourmet is instrumental to the success of our YDF Bake Sale. They are totally in charge of getting the ‘goods’ from our members, to labeling, set up, and selling. All baked goods received must be homemade. If a member cannot bake, she is asked to make a monetary donation. Unless otherwise noted, Gourmet meets on the Third Tuesday of the month in the Banquet Room at 11:30 a.m. Check with the chair for the current activity fee.
Bunco
Bunco started in the year 2000. This ever- popular game is best described as: food, fun, laughter and a chance to win some money at this fast paced dice game. No experience necessary. No long- term commitment. Easy- to- learn. Sign- up is outside the office on the bulletin board on a month- to- month basis. Bunco averages 20- 25 players monthly. All items needed to play Bunco are stored in the Dining Room. There are several prize categories. Total amount of cash distributed varies. Members of the group are asked to commit to co- hosting once during the year. Hostesses provide drinks and snacks at their expense. Bunco meets in the kitchen at 7:00 p.m. to chat and chew. Play begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room. There is a nominal registration fee for the evening.
