The Ways & Means Committee of the Westport Woman’s Club is responsible for devising and executing plans for raising money to meet authorized philanthropic commitments of the Club.


        2008 Events    

    On March 29th WWC presented IT’S OK TO DRESS UP AND PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD performed by JIB Productions, producers of Westport's popular lunchtime theatre series, Play With Your Food. The show was a comedic performance of 3 one-act plays preceded by a cocktail hour and followed by coffee & desert. Proceeds from the event benefitted Family & Children’s Agency and Home Delivered Meals, a program of Westport’s Department of Human Services.          2007 Events    

    "100th ANNIVERSARY TEA & FASHION SHOW'' honoring the memory of Ina Bradley was held on September 19th. Tammy Pincavage chaired the event with WWC members modeling fashions by Sigrid Olsen.  Music was provided by Ted Simons, food by Fitzgerald's Fine Catering and champagne donated by Castle Wine & Spirits. The major recipients of the fundraiser were The Center for Women & Families  and Necessities

    "ENOCH ARDEN, A LOVE STORY"- A heart wrenching story of love and loss from the poetry of  Alfred Lord Tennyson and music by Richard Strauss was performed on January 27th by narrator Charles E. Gerber and pianist Gayle Martin Henry. The event was the kick-off of the WWC 100th anniversary celebration. Beneficiaries  were Camp AmeriKids and Caroline House

 

    “THE 2004 SPRING FASHION SHOW” was held on April 27th.  It consisted of a /Silent Auction, luncheon provided by Fitzgerald Fine Catering, and followed with a fashion show by Chico’s of Westport. The net proceeds from the show were distributed to Clasp Homes, Star, Inc. and Families in Need.

     

    “AN EVENING WITH GERSHWIN” was held on February 7th.  It was an evening of food, wines and entertainment. Orin Grossman portrayed George Gershwin, playing many of the Gershwin repertoire including songs from "Porgy & Bess”.  There were Broadway and off-Broadway performers accompanying him. The profits from the event were distributed to Mercy Learning Center and Mid-Fairfield Hospice.
