The Antiques Group started approximately in 1987 and, with the exception of a year or so, has been meeting since that time. Refreshments are served prior to a short business meeting, followed by a speaker, who talks about his/her expertise in a specific area. Topics in the past have included antique jewelry, furniture, dolls, quilts and linens, and silver, as well as EBay selling, auctions, and current trends in the antiques field. Often the speakers will provide informal appraisals of items brought in by our members. Occasionally, instead of a speaker, the group may plan local field trips, during the year via carpool, to area businesses such as antique and consignment shops, and auction houses, as well as a December Holiday Lunch at a restaurant and a May potluck lunch at a member’s home. Members of antiques pay a nominal annual fee to cover expenses; some meetings may be open to non- members for a small charge
