WWC Most Active Member - 2015

The Westport Woman’s Club presented its 2015 Most Active Member Award to Karen Center at their May Club Day luncheon. The prestigious award, which honors exceptional volunteer service to the WWC and its charitable and social philanthropic initiatives, will result in the WWC on May 22 presenting one of its need-based college scholarships to a graduating Staples HS senior in Karen Center's name, then adding both names to the WWC Honor Roll plaque...

Karen Center's considerable contributions to the WWC's work over the past 18 years include chairing the Food Closet in partnership with Westport Human Services, serving on the Scholarship Committee, the Garden Department Board, the Nominating Committee, the Ruegg Grant Committee and Warm-up Fund Mailing Committee. She also has served as Yankee Doodle Fair Co-‐Chair, assisted with Health Department Clinics, the Blues, Views and Barbeque fundraiser, Necessities Bags, Tag Sales and many other WWC fundraisers.

Remarking on her WWC service, Karen says, “As I thought about all the things I was involved with at the club, I realize how fortunate I was to have found this group. They are special ladies who have made a great difference in my life and for that I will be forever grateful.”

Dorothy Curran, WWC president, thanked her for her long, continuous and exemplary service to the WWC, the Food Closet and the community service values for which the organization stands.
