With the legendary Miggs Burroughs as Curator, and 16 participating local artists, the popular Westport Woman’s Club’s (WWC) Annual Art Show returns for three days only, Thursday, April 23rd from 4-7 pm and April 25th and 26th from 2-5pm. This year’s event celebrates the memory of longtime WWC Art Show Chair, Jo Fuchs Luscombe, who also was a past WWC President, five- term CT State Representative (and Minority Whip), Westport Third Selectman, ZBA Chair, and School Building Committee Chair, among other prominent community roles. The Art Show opens with a free public Reception on Thursday, April 23rd, from 4 to 7 pm, with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Blues keyboardist, Mark Naftalin, playing on WWC’s piano.
According to Curator Burroughs, by featuring smaller, original works across an intriguing array of styles and media, the Art Show will connect local artists and buyers with affordable, local pieces for their collections. “Affordability is the theme. There’s something for everyone,” he notes.
Artists chosen by Burroughs to exhibit in the WWC’s historic Bedford Hall include Robin Babbin, John Bygott, Bonnie Edelman, Susan Fehlinger, Hernan Garcia, Rachel Hall, Elisa Keogh, Shelley Lowenstein, Paula Morgan, Larry Morse, Jon Puzzuoli, Butch Quick, Jodi Rabinowitz, Cindy Wagner and Tammy Winser. Guest artist, Sean Keating, will show work in the Drawing Room, where small works donated by the participating artists as drawing prizes will be on display. Visitors may view and purchase drawing prize chances for the works.
The WWC’s volunteer docents and runners will assist buyers. The non-profit WWC will accept payments or donations by cash, check or credit card. All net proceeds will benefit local community service organizations and need-based scholarships.
