The Westport Woman’s Club honored 2014 Award Recipients today at their May Club Day luncheon. Wendy McKeon is the recipient of the WWC Most Active Member Award. This award is presented annually to a member who has been recognized for service not only above and beyond the call of duty, but graciously and with a smile.
Ms. McKeon’s many contributions to the club include, serving on the Board of Directors as Membership chair for four years, co-chair of the Food Closet, served on the Ruegg Grant committee, the nominating committee and is current head of the scholarship committee. She founded Bunco a special interest group in 2000- it remains one of our most popular groups and a draw for new members. She ran the Bingo fund raiser for several years as well.
The 2014 Most Active Member Scholarship will be presented in Wendy’s name to an eligible H.S. graduate in June.
Clare Clark Westport Woman’s Club Volunteer of the Year, received a Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield (VAC) Award recognizing her dedication and commitment to the WWC’s fundraising and community service efforts. Ms. Clark’s many contributions to the club include serving on the Board of Directors as membership chair and house chair. She helped write the Membership Handbook: shepherded the club heating conversion to gas, served on the Ruegg Committee and Nominating Committee, initiated the YDF Food and Beverage Court and served as chair for 7 years. She is very active in the community particularly with the Mercy Learning Center.
Both of these members have given of their time and talent in a way that transcends their individual contributions. The Club is most fortunate to have them as members and is very please to be able to acknowledge their work in some small way.
